Auditions are by prior appointment only; click here to complete the Audition Registration Form to notify us of your interest, or view our 'Information for Prospective Members' for more information. Once you submit the Registration form, you will be contacted by a staff member. The 7-10-minute audition process includes one prepared audition piece and sight-reading and musicianship exercises.

The Detroit Concert Choir presents 8-10 concerts each season and also participates in community events and collaborative projects. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings form 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Rehearsals typically begin in early September and continue throughout May and are held in alternating locations including Grosse Pointe Woods and Royal Oak. DCC rehearsals and events are posted on our member calendar once they are confirmed.

We have limited positions for professional singers who demonstrate superior vocal and musical skills. Specify on the Audition Registration Form if you are interested in auditioning for a professional position.
 
Your audition will include
  • Vocalization and range check
  • Tonal memory (I'll play a few pitches on piano, you sing them
  • Your prepared pieces
- This only needs to be a piece that you believe shows off your best vocal quality in a wide range.
- It does not have to be an art song. It can be in any style you choose. You may choose accompanied music but no pianist is provided and you will be asked to sing a cappella
- Your prepared piece does not need to be memorized
- Because of limited time the song portion will only be 1-2 minutes
 
  • Sight-singing
- Don't worry, just do your best
- Solfege is not required but can be utilized if you so choose
