In the Community....
The Detroit Concert Choir has joined forces with the ALS Association to raise funds and awareness to defeat ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). For the 7th consecutive year the Detroit Concert Choir has participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS and performed musical selections at the opening ceremonies that take place in Detroit, Michigan.
This year the walk took place September 30th at the Detroit Zoo. Members of the choir sang and then gathered their friends and family to participate in the two mile walk. Singing at this event honors the memory of long time choir member Judy Leonard who lost her battle with ALS in 2012. It is our desire to show support for the research, education, and individual support for those suffering from ALS today and we are honored to participate in this annual community event.
Through the Detroit Concert Choir's efforts alone, over $80,000 has been raised for ALS. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Leonard.
