Audition Information2021-22 Season

Thank you for your interest in the Detroit Concert Choir.
Audition information posted below. If you have any questions, please contact us.
We're actively planning our 35th season, "Let Music Live!"
The Detroit Concert Choir is recognized for exceptional programming and distinctive performances throughout the Detroit area. Under the leadership of Michael A. Mitchell, DCC is holding auditions for the 2021-2022 season on August 23 & 24, 2021. We are looking for skilled choral singers who have the desire to be moved, inspired and challenged.

To help you prepare, we are requiring all choir members to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to participate this season.
Auditions are by prior appointment only; click here to complete the Audition Registration Form to notify us of your interest, or view our General Information for Prospective Members for more information. Once you submit the Audition Registration form, you will be contacted by a staff member to proceed to the next steps.

The 7-10-minute audition process includes one prepared audition piece and sight-reading and musicianship exercises.

Your audition will include:
*   Vocalization and range check

*   Tonal memory (A few pitches will be played on the piano, and you will be asked to sing them).

*   Sight-singing

*   Your prepared piece:

- This only needs to be a piece that you believe shows off your best vocal quality in a wide range.
- The songs can be in any style you choose. You may choose accompanied music but no pianist is provided and you will be asked to sing a cappella.
- Your prepared piece does not need to be memorized.
- Because of limited time the song portion will only be 1-2 minutes.

- Don't worry, just do your best.

We inform singers as quickly as possible about the outcome of their auditions. Acceptance into the choir is based on information from the audition process, balance needs and space availability in each section.
